Today I would rather…

…be in Ireland! The inaugural conference of the Rural Science Association is happening today at Tipperary Institute in Thurles and I would like to be there. The RSA is being set up as the professional association for those working/studying in rural development in Ireland. Unfortunately, by the time I received confirmation and details of the conference, the flights to Cork or Shannon were too expensive. I would’ve had to hire a car as well, and organise accommodation, all at short notice. It all seemed a lot of effort and expense, which would be better used elsewhere. Anyway, there will be plenty of opportunity to get involved with the group over the next few weeks/months.

I checked the jobs at IRLOGI (Irish Organisation for Geographical Information), and a summer placement at Roscommon County Council is advertised, but the link to the job description isn’t working, so I will email for the details. The job would be ideal if it were in Tipperary, but it might be worth a look.
